Let's Get This Party Started!

Happy New Year to you all out there in inter-web land, I hope you rang in 2014 with a bang.  I sure did, meaning I was up until midnight (actually past midnight... but midnight is impressive enough).

I'm not a big NYE fan.  I used to be when I was young and single, but as I got older the whole NYE Glam has really dulled.  Up until NYE we have no plans, it wasn't until about 2 pm that we actually made plans.  We had some friends come over and we grilled steaks (by "we" I mean my husband, it was -12 degrees out - no way in HELL that I'd be out there grilling) and had some cheesy broccoli and red potatoes.  It was DELISH... then we sat on the couch and watched TV.  Totally exciting... we had a lot of fun but just aren't the partiers we used to be :)

Anyway enough of New Years Eve stuff.  I know I posted recently giving you the update from last week... losing 6 lbs and all, I was pretty damn excited.  I was also very scared for this past week because losing 6 lbs in one week is always hard to follow up on.  I mean, it's hard to maintain a loss like that let alone try and lose again.  Luckily, for me, I got sick.

I got the worst cold/flu that I've had in ages... I'm still recovering.  BUT the upside is that I couldn't really binge eat.  There was only one day where I didn't eat all my points, because I just couldn't eat.  The rest of the days I ate at least all my points and then some.  My goal this past week was to try and stay within my points plus using my extra 49 points of course... and I did it.  I can't believe it, but I did it.  My extra point balance is exactly ZERO.

It was hard though - my appetite came WAY back on Sunday.  So I had to exercise a lot of self control from Sunday on.  I planned out my day (food planning of course) as best I could each day (even NYE  I was not terribly over on points) and adjusted my food intake if something "came up."  I feel really really good (hungry, but good) about my will power this past week.  What I don't feel good about is the fact that I haven't exercised since the day before Christmas Eve.  It's crazy, but I am just not feeling all that well.  I will be making it back to the gym starting Friday night, but it just seems weird not to be exercising.

I know a lot of people think New Years Resolutions are so cliche, and I kind of do too... but if that's what works for you to kick off your 2014 trying to be healthier or losing weight or whatever - then go for it.  I am continuing on with my quest to get to my goal weight, but my ultimate goal is to stay fit and active.  My resolution though, is to learn Photoshop.  I really need to do that :)  Let's get this party started!!!

My goals for this upcoming week are:
- get back to the gym
- eat healthy, I do not anticipate any roadblocks this week (I hope I'm right)
- stay within my 49 extra points again

My results for this past week are that I lost 5.4 lbs.  CRAZY!!!  In the last two weeks I've lost 11.4 lbs.  I'm 1.2 lbs away from my lowest weight during this journey and that was hit October 3, 2013.  I've almost lost everything I gained from birthday season - Christmas.  This is exciting stuff!!!

I can't wait until I'm Healthfully Ever After!

  2. How do you lose that much in two weeks? or even one week? I am lucky to lose 5 lbs in 2 months now. I am down 80 lbs from my start date. I have to admit, when I started, the pounds fell off. My normal loss per week was 3-4lbs. Then in Z starting around July, it's never been the same. I consider it a good day when I lose more then .5 lbs a week. What is up with that? Any suggestions? How much do you workout a day and what do you do? I have a fitbit force and average 5-6 miles a day.

    1. Lisa, very good questions. To be honest, if you would see what I ate the week that I lost 6 you would be shocked. I ate way way over my points... like I said I ate all of my daily points and was negative 134 extra weekly points as well (I was wrong in my blog I guess). That week I also had 27 points that were clocked from my activelink (the weight watcher monitor). So I had plenty of exercise. All I can say is I was eating horribly the weeks before and was tracking everything that week - so either my body just needed to let go of the weight (thankfully) OR it was that much of a difference the weeks before where I was eating that much worse.

This past week I had zero activity points (I was sick, still am) but stayed within my 49 extra weekly points... so the difference of 134 + 27 = 161 points from one week to the next. That's pretty much 5 days worth of points right there.

I have some figuring out to do this week with my exercise. I will be re-encorporating it this week, but want to be careful not to get too many extra activity points because that's when my food intake spikes. I need to figure out that balance - but I love working out and going to the gym so that's going to take some will power there too.

oooh... and I use the Fitbit One and the ActiveLink from weight watchers. I do Activelink so I get consistent / trustable exercise points versus guessing with with what I get from my daily activity. With Fitbit I average 7-8,000 steps during the week and over 10,000 on weekends usually.

I know this sounds ridiculous and is not helpful. But I guarantee I'm not taking any extra supplements or doing anything else non-weight watchery. Again, I'm chalking it up to how bad I was doing before and maybe my body thinks that I've re-started a program or something because you're right... this is like first few weeks weight being taken off.

I can feel a huge difference too - of course it's 11 lbs difference so I SHOULD feel it. It's crazy but I'm not going to complain. I'm going to do my best to maintain the weight loss this week. So far (yesterday) I stayed within my 30 points (go me!!!). It's getting very hard to do - because my appetite is back so it's a lot of work again :(

    2. Lisa... also HOLY CRAP congrats on 80 lbs gone! That's a huge accomplishment and you're right it's hard once you lose that much to put up numbers like I did the last two weeks. It's NOT typical for me either... I can still drop 1 - 2 a week though if I work hard at it.

I became very lax on my food over the last three months - terribly bad actually. Up and down, up and down... you can see that from what I report in my blog.

If there's something I can do to help you directly - whether it's facebooking (you can message me through my healthfully ever after page) or texting or whatever, let me know.

we'll have to start through facebook because I don't want my phone number out here :)

Each morning I've been texting my weight to one of my good friends as well as posting my tracker for the day on FB (messaging) with two others... this has helped each one of us be super successful the last two weeks.

you know my results... a lifetime member has lost 4 lbs the first week and 3 lbs this past week. Also a-typical results for her too. So maybe it's all in the true tracking :)

let me know if there's something I can do for or with you!
